Cute Patootie was quick to begin.  Desert Heat and Cute Patootie collided on the first turn checking Cute Patootie.  Peregrine Speed and Cosmic Vigilante collided several times on the first turn checking both greyhounds.  Parzival galloped on Rocky Pie on the first turn checking Rocky Pie, Mandalorian and Parzival.  Desert Heat and Parzival collided approaching the home turn checking Parzival.  Cute Patootie and Parzival collided on the home turn.

Stewards spoke to Mr. S. Curtain the representative of Parzival regarding the significant market support for the greyhound.  Mr. Curtain stated the greyhound had trialled well recently and he expected an improved performance on its first start.  Stewards noted the interference suffered by Parzival in this event along with Mr. Curtain's explanation and directed a sample be taken.

Moroka Magic was slow to begin.  One Babe and French Sugar collided soon after the start checking One Babe.  Moroka Magic and French Sugar collided approaching the first turn checking both greyhounds.  Jay Bird, Declassified and Agent Donuts collided approaching the first turn checking Jay Bird, Declassified and Filorga Bale.  Declassified and Agent Donuts collided on the first turn severely checking Declassified and checking Agent Donuts.  French Sugar, Declassified and Filorga Bale collided approaching the home turn checking all three greyhounds.  Agent Donuts faltered on the home turn, lost ground and subsequently tailed off.  Moroka Magic raced wide on the home turn.  Filorga Bale crossed out in the home straight and collided several times with Declassified checking both greyhounds.

Aeroplane Eric underwent a post race veterinary examination on the request of the trainer and no apparent injury was reported.

Agent Donuts underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have an injured left elbow.  A 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Ivey's Affair, Zipping Caesar, Beau Gem and Friday Frothies collided approaching the first turn checking Zipping Caesar, Friday Frothies and Beau Gem.  Ultimate Bling galloped on Atlantic Jewel on the first turn, Ultimate Bling fell as a result severely checking Friday Frothies.  Zipping Caesar raced wide in the home straight.
