Eilish was quick to begin. Shrek's Rose was slow to begin.
Claydon checked off Mepunga Apollo soon after the start. Big Jo and Mepunga Apollo collided approaching the first turn. Claydon and Mepunga Apollo collided approaching the first turn. Eilish and Blue Tick Fern collided approaching the second turn checking Blue Tick Fern. Claydon checking off Running The Wind entering the back straight, Claydon fell as a result. Aston Harlow and Mepunga Apollo collided in the back straight. Shrek's Rose checked off Running The Wind entering the home straight. Mepunga Apollo turned its head inwards entering the home straight and visibly eased approaching the winning post.
Claydon underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.
Mepunga Apollo underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right wrist sprain, a 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr R. Gore, regarding the greyhounds racing manners entering the home straight and approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Mepunga Apollo was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Gore pleaded guilty to the charge, Mepunga Apollo must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
