Steward's Report
Stewards questioned Trainer, Mr. John Mangion regarding the number of starts Awesome Asset has had over the past month -8 starts in 28 days. Mr Mangion stated that the greyhound does little work between runs, doesn't trial between races and the greyhound races in good form with this strategy. Stewards noted Mr Mangion's explanation.
A pre-race sample was taken from Private.
Private and Crackerjack Des collided soon after the start. Alquist, Once A King, Private and Crackerjack Des collided approaching the first turn severely checking Once A King. Awesome Asset, Once A King, Private and Crackerjack Des collided on the first turn checking Alquist and severely checking Awesome Asset which fell. Crackerjack Des lost ground approaching the home turn.
Awesome Asset underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a minor spike wound to the front right paw. No stand down period was imposed.
Crackerjack Des underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injury was found.
