Special Pup was slow to begin and stumbled soon after the start. Coup D'Etat, Texan and Pocked Of Dreams collided approaching the 300m mark, checking Special Pup. Pocked Of Dreams, Vapourash, Civil Pursuit, Top Innings, Premier Magpie, Coup D'Etat and Texan collided at the 300m mark, severely checking Coup D'Etat and Texan. Civil Pursuit, Coup D'Etat and Texan collided approaching the 250m mark, checking Premier Magpie and severely checking Coup D'Etat, which tailed off as a result.
Coup D'Etat was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured right fibula, right hind spike marks and right sartorius, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.
