Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr Aaron Debattista, the trainer of Hammerhead regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Hammer Head last raced on 13th April 2018.Mr Debattista stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a right hock injury. Hammer Head ran a clearing trial at Bendigo on 5th December 2018 and was cleared.
A pre race sample was taken from Hammer Head.
Hammer Head was quick to begin. Dashing Dino was slow to begin. Vintage Storm and Spur collided approaching the first turn, checking Spur which lost ground. Hammer Head, Vintage Storm and Tat Barbie raced wide in the home straight.
Spur was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left carpal sprain, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to the trainer Mr Michael Said regarding the greyhound Spur performance. Mr Said stated that the greyhound has had several ongoing injuries and that he will retire the greyhound. Stewards noted his explanation and took no further action.
