Noaki Colour and Fleet Trades were quick to begin. Arnie Allen was slow to begin.
Down Mexica Way and Unite Bale collided on the first turn, checking Unite Bale. Down Mexico Way and Libby's Dream collided approaching the second turn. Libby's Dream checked off Down Mexico Way on the third turn.
Stewards spoke to handler Ms C Haigh, regarding her difficulty in boxing the greyhound Karaka. Stewards directed that Karaka be boxed first in future events.
