A pre-race sample was taken from Celestial Jewel.
Plummy's Girl and Celestial Jewel were slow to begin.
Sunny's Kayo, Never Duplicated and Creative Playboy collided on the first turn, checking Sunny's Kayo. Celestial Jewel and Mighty Josiah collided on the first turn checking Celestial Jewel and Plummy"s Girl. Sunny's Kayo, Mighty Josiah and Shakey Coconut collided on the second turn, checking Mighty Josiah and Let It Fly. Plummy's Girl and Celestial Jewel collided on the third turn, checking Plummy's Girl. Celestial Jewel failed to pursue the lure with due commitment on the fourth turn. Sunny's Kayo and Mighty Josiah collided on the fourth turn, checking Mighty Josiah.
Stewards spoke to Mr J Westerlo, the trainer of the greyhound Celestial Jewel regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the fourth turn. Celestial Jewel was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the left gracilis (back muscle), a seven day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Celestial Jewel with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Westerlo pleaded guilty to the charge, Celestial Jewel was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted
