A pre-race sample was taken from Merchant Prince.
Merchant Prince and Daintree Dynamo were slow to begin. Hurunui Jack, Little Women and Iona Misty collided soon after the start checking Little Women. Hurunui Jack and Iona Misty collided approaching the first turn checking Dynamic Rainbow and Little Women. Little Women and Dynamic Rainbow collided entering the back straight checking Dynamic Rainbow. Hurunui Jack was checked off Little Women on the second turn checking One More Light and Merchant Prince. Iona Misty and Little Women collided in the home straight checking Little Women.
