Steward's Report

Stewards spoke to Mr Terrence Churchill, the trainer of Terrah Pin regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Terrah Pin last raced on 23 November 2018 and is returning from a seasonal spell.

Why Woodleigh was slow to begin.

Bakali Jet and Trubelle collided approaching the first turn.  No Problem John, Heavy Fuel and Terrah Pin collided on the first turn checking Terrah Pin.  No Problem John and Heavy Fuel collided on the first turn checking Heavy Fuel and Terrah Pin.  Trubelle clipped the heels of Bakali Jet on the home turn.  Heavy Fuel checked off No Problem John entering the home straight.  Bakali Jet failed to pursue the lure with due commitment in the home straight.  Bakali Jet and Trubelle collided approaching the winning post.

Terrah Pin was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr T. Churchill, after he declined a re-vet of the greyhound Terrah Pin. Stewards deemed the performance of Terrah Pin unsatisfactory in this event and acting in accordance with GAR 71, Stewards directed that Terrah Pin must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Stewards spoke to Ms K. Jackson, the representative of the greyhound Bakali Jet regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight.  Bakali Jet was vetted and re-vetted following the event 4. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an abrasion to the right hind calf, no stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Bakali Jet with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Ms Jackson pleaded guilty to the charge, Bakali Jet was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.

No Problem John was vetted after a fall past the winning post entering the catching pen.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right elbow injury, a 21 day stand down period was imposed. 

A post-race sample was taken from Bakali Jet - winner of the event.
