Stewards spoke to Mr P Lagogiane, representing Ms J Lagogiane - trainer of Beast Unleashed, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Beast Unleashed  last raced on 16th June 2018.  Ms J Lagogiane stated that the greyhound was resuming racing following a right hock injury.

Pirate's Curse was slow to begin.

Pirate's Curse checked off Seabrook Eb soon after the start and trailed the field throughout. Yogi Mikado, Mepunga Debbie and Seabrook Eb collided soon after the start, checking Mepunga Debbie and Seabrook Eb. King of Merrimu, South of Eden, Folding Green and Detroit Wally collided soon after the start, checking Folding Green. South of Eden checked off Yogi Mikado approaching the first turn.  King of Merrimu and Detroit Wally collided several times on the first turn. Mepunga Debbie and Seabrook Eb collided approaching the home turn. King of Merrimu and Yogi Mikado collided several times in the home straight and again approaching the winning post.

Pirate's Curse was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left triceps muscle injury, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Circus Oasis checked off the heels of Mighty Barcia on the first turn. Veracity checked off the heels of Mighty Barcia on the first turn and collided with Wharfies Girl. Veracity and Wharfies Girl collided approaching the home turn. Honcho Monelli shifted out and raced wide on the home turn. Mighty Barcia tired over the concluding stages.

Mr Terry Reid, trainer of Lagoon Pirate declared a new weight of 32.7kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Lagoon Pirate last raced at  33.8kg.

Abuzz was quick to begin, Big Sam Marjen was slow to begin.

Lagoon Pirate and Blue Striker collided soon after the start. Burnout and Blue Striker collided on the first turn. Fernando's Flare and Lagoon Pirate collided on the first turn. Big Sam Marjen and Dyna Harpa collided on the first turn. Fernando's Flare galloped on the heels of Burnout on the first turn, checking Fernando's Flare, Burnout fell as a result. Abuzz raced verywide in the home straight.

Burnout was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a scapula injury to the right fore leg and tarsal sprain injury to right hind leg, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Poke The Bear was slow to begin.

Regazzoni checked off Tito Mojito approaching the first turn. Milky Jones checked off Huxley on the first turn, checking Milky Jones and Poke The Bear , severely checking Tito Mojito, Regazzoni and Kinloch Moss.

A sample was taken from Shadale, the winner of the event.

Both a urine and blood sample was taken from Huxley, placed second in the event.

Zipping Inglis, Rowchester Flash, Aston Aniston and Fat Rhino were slow to begin.

Zipping Inglis and Ominous Warning collided approaching the first turn.  Aston Aniston checked off I'm Orion approaching the first turn. Zipping Inglis, Ominous Warning and I'm Orion collided approaching the home turn. Ominous Warning and I'm Orion collided approaching the home turn.  Rowchester Flash and Fat Rhino collided approaching the home turn. Rowchester Flash and Fat Rhino raced wide in the home straight.

Blue Odessa was slow to begin.

Jar Man and Winlock Casper collided soon after the start, checking Jar Man. Knocka Feller checked off Kung Fu Hustle on the first turn. Kung Fu Hustle checked off Cherokee Shimmer on the first turn. Knocka Feller, Jar Man and Blue Odessa collided on the home turn, checking Jar Man. Dyna Winter raced wide in the home straight.

Stewards spoke to Mr. T. Rasmussen, the trainer of Dyna Layla and issued a warning for the racing manners in the home straight. 

Stewards issued a warning to Mrs J Hall for her difficulties in boxing Blue Odessa.

Meeting Comments:

GRV Stewards today finalised an inquiry into an incident that occurred on-track during a race-meeting held at the Horsham Greyhound Racing Club on Tuesday 20 November 2018. After taking evidence from GRV Steward Mr. Dan Verberne, the Horsham Starter and Licensed Trainer Mr. Frank Meyer, the Stewards issued a charge to Mr. Meyer under GAR 86 (q). The specifics of the charge were that at the Horsham Greyhound Racing Club on Tuesday 20 November 2018, Mr Frank Meyer engaged in conduct during Race 6 at the 485m boxes which is detrimental or prejudicial to the interests of greyhound racing, by swearing in a loud manner.  Mr. Meyer pleaded not guilty to the charge however was found guilty and fined $250.

In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration Mr. Meyer’s poor behaviour record with GRV, his personnel antecedence and submissions on penalty, the nature and gravity of the incident, other behaviour related cases, the need to deter other participants to act in this manner and denounciation. Specific deterrence looms large for Mr. Meyer as his record indicates recidivism and he has indicated a reluctance to change his ways. Mr Meyer was advised that changes in his behaviour are required or other, more punitive modes of penalty may be considered in the future. All participants should note that a trainer's license is a privilege, not a right and that there are consequences for poor behaviour or conduct.
