In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, today's meeting was declared Hot Weather Affected. At the commencement of kennelling the outside temperature was 32.0 degrees and the inside kennel temperature was 19.8 degrees.

The outside temperature at race start time was 30.6 degrees and the inside kennel temperature when the greyhounds were retrieved was 19.9 degrees.

A pre-race sample was taken from Oddjob Lad.

Sweet Gabriella was quick to begin.  Limerick Icon was slow to begin.

Rosie Reigns and Sticka Fantasy collided soon after the start.  Rosie Reigns, Sticka Fantasy and Oddjob Lad collided approaching the first turn checking Rosie Reigns and Oddjob Lad.  Rosie Reigns checked off Limerick Icon in the back straight.  Limerick Icon checked off Rosie Reigns on the third turn.  Sticka Fantasy raced wide approaching the home turn.  Kip Your Star and Rosie Reigns collided entering the home straight.  

Mr F. Bickerton, the representative of Pacific Action declared a new weight of 32.9kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Pacific Action last raced at 31.5kgs.

Mr F. Bickerton, trainer of Pacific Coast declared a new weight of 28.4kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Pacific Coast last raced at 26.7kgs.

Space Alert was slow to begin.

Zipping Brynn, Mischief Reigns and Pacific Action collided soon after the start.  Tanya's Way and Space Alert collided approaching the first turn.  Pacific Action and Pacific Coast collided approaching the first turn.  Space Alert and Pacific Coast collided approaching the home turn checking Pacific Coast.  Mischief Reigns and Zipping Brynn collided on the home turn checking Mischief Reigns and Pacific Coast.  

Roger That was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a spike wound to the right hind foot, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards issued a warning to Mr T. Whitford, the trainer of Roger That regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight.

Stewards spoke to Miss Taylor Edwards, the representative of Superior Briz after she initially presented the incorrect greyhound at kennelling for it's engagement in this event.  Pursuant to GAR 86(O) stewards charged Miss Edwards with negligence, Miss Edwards pleaded guilty to the charge, Stewards found Miss Edwards guilty and imposed a $250.00 fine. Stewards permitted Miss Edwards to return home to retrieve the correct greyhound which was then presented to the Stewards prior the end of kennelling. Stewards directed that a pre-race sample be taken from the greyhound.

Blistering Betty was quick to begin.  Bela Natali, Spolly's Girl and Titanium Boy were slow to begin.  Pacific Beach was very slow to begin (3 lengths).

Spolly's Girl and Titanium Boy collided soon after the start.  Bela Natali, Spolly's Girl and Titanium Boy collided approaching the first turn checking Spolly's Girl.  Titanium Boy and Pacific Beach collided on the first turn.  Spolly's Girl galloped on Pacific Beach on the home turn severely checking Spolly's Girl, Pacific Beach fell as a result.  Run The Route and Volcanic Winter collided in the home straight.  

Spolly's Girl was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Pacific Beach was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right thigh injury, a 5 day stand down period was imposed.

A post-race sample was taken from Blistering Betty - winner of the event.  

The outside temperature at race start time was 25.0 degrees and the inside kennel temperature when the greyhounds were retrieved was 20.0 degrees.

A pre-race sample was taken from Lektra Miss.

Red Queen was quick to begin.

Alonso Power checked off Zipping Dash soon after the start.  Zipping Dash checked off Lektra Miss approaching the first turn.  Red Queen and Alonso Power collided on the first turn.  Miss Dozer galloped on Zipping Dash on the first turn checking Busy Bella, Brindle Ninja and severely checking Zipping Dash.  Busy Bella and Brindle Ninja collided approaching the home turn.  

Zipping Dash was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left toe injury and a right hock sprain, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Following a significance drop in temperature stewards relaxed the GRV Hot Weather Policy prior to the start of this event.

An Out of Competition Sample was taken from Grande Fratello engaged in this event on 26 Feburary, 2019 pursuant to GAR 79A.

Belleperi Miss and Spazzy Blue were quick to begin.

Yelredda Saint and Belleperi Miss collided approaching the first turn.  Yelredda Saint, Belleperi Miss and Spazzy Blue collided approaching the first turn severely checking Spazzy Blue.  Grande Fratello, Dyna Kara and Belleperi Miss collided on the first turn checking Grande Fratello, Dyna Kara, Belleperi Miss and Crossfire Icon.  Grande Fratello and Dyna Kara collided on the first turn checking Dyna Kara and severely checking Grande Fratello which subsequently tailed off.  Dyna Kara and Joraddi collided approaching the home turn checking Joraddi.

Grande Fratello was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right hock fracture and left hind torn nail, a 90 day stand down period was imposed. 

A post-race sample was taken from Diesel Turbo - winner of the event.

Stewards spoke to Mrs Andrea Condon, the handler of Diesel Turbo and reminded her of her responsibilities regarding her tardiness in boxing the greyhound.

Romanava was slow to begin.

Go Gettem Bingo and Black Beauty collided soon after the start checking Go Gettem Bingo.  Extreme Justice and Ita Louisa collided on the first turn.  Hua Hin and Black Beauty collided on the first turn and again on the second turn.  Hua Hin checked off Go Gettem Bingo approaching the home turn.  Hua Hin, Black Beauty and Extreme Justice collided on the home turn.  Go Gettem Bingo lost ground over the concluding stages.

Go Gettem Bingo was vetted and re-vetted following event 9.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right triangle injury, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.

A pre-race sample was taken from Dyna Reaver.

Zipping Caesar was quick to begin.  Light The Track was slow to begin.

Bejarano, Rickett's Point, Dyna Reaver, Light The Track and Dynamic Rainbow collided on the first turn checking Bejarano, Dyna Reaver, Light The Track and Dynamic Rainbow.  Bejarano and Light The Track collided on the second turn checking Light The Track.  Living Daylights and Zipping Caesar raced wide on the home turn.  

Stewards spoke to Mrs J. Greenough, the trainer of Antares Star regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Antares Star last raced on 23 November 2018 and is returning to racing following a right sesamoid injury.

Lightwood Lass was slow to begin.

Minter Bee Star and Lightwood Lass collided soon after the start.  Up And About, Moroka Assassin and Antares Star collided approaching the first turn checking Up And About and Moroka Assassin.  Up And About checked off Lightwood Lass on the first turn.  Moroka Assassin and Lightwood Lass collided on the first turn.  Up And About and Moroka Assassin collided several times in the home straight.

Harper's Hand was quick to begin.  Merchant Prince was slow to begin.

Data Star and Bigtime Bruce collided soon after the start.  Lance Link, Trap Queen and Data Star collided approaching the first turn checking Trap Queen, Data Star and Able Bess.  Bigtime Bruce crossed to the rail on the first turn checking All You Got, Mepunga Bonnie and Trap Queen.  Lance Link and Data Star collided on the first turn checking Lance Link.  Mepunga Bonnie and Able Bess collided approaching the home turn.

Stewards spoke to Mr Corry Kas, the trainer of Magical Bling regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Magical Bling last raced on 1 November 2018 and is returning to racing following a spell.

Satisfactory Trial Results - (Cramp) Knock The Clock trialled over the 311mtrs from box 1, weight 30.7kgs, the greyhound was placed 1stin a field of 5. The time of the trial was 18.02, the greyhound won by a margin of 3 lengths. Knock The Clock was Cleared.

Satisfactory Trial Results (GAR 77A) - Stewards spoke to Mr R. Lesjak, the trainer of Shrek’s Typhoon regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced.  Shrek’s Typhoon last raced on 8 August 2018 and is returning from a right back muscle injury and extended spell. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Shrek’s Typhoon trialled over the 311mtrs from box 2, weight 33.9kgs, the greyhound was placed 2nd in a field of 5. The time of the trial was 18.02, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 3 lengths. Shrek’s Typhoon was Cleared.

Satisfactory Trial Results (GAR 77A) - Stewards spoke to Mr J. Grima the representative of Waltz On Bye regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced.  Waltz On Bye last raced on 7 June 2018 and is returning from a right wrist injury. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Waltz On Bye trialled over the 311mtrs from box 3, weight 29.4kgs, the greyhound was placed 3rdin a field of 5. The time of the trial was 18.02, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 4 ¾ lengths. Waltz On Bye was Cleared.

Satisfactory Trial Results – Gnal Gnal Girl trialled over the 311mtrs from box 7, weight 28.9kgs, the greyhound was placed 4thin a field of 5. The time of the trial was 18.02, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 6 lengths. Gnal Gnal Girl was Not Cleared.
