A pre-race sample was taken from Special Drop.
Got An Engine, Time Saver and Cheeky Chimp were slow to begin.
Regal Duke and Flying Jamaica collided soon after the start.
Flying Jamaica and Butter Chicken collided approaching the first turn. Special Drop checked off Butter Chicken approaching the first turn checking Special Drop and severely checking Cheeky Chimp. Got An Engine marred the running of Regal Duke in the home straight.
Got An Engine was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Stewards spoke to Mr. G. George, the trainer of the greyhound Got An Engine regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Got An Engine with marring. Mr. George pleaded guilty to the charge, Got An Engine was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Bendigo and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
