Martini Lady was slow to begin.
Invictus Coco, Martini Lady and Ashby Nimble collided approaching the first turn checking Martini Lady and Ashby Nimble. Martini Lady checked off Ashby Nimble on the first turn checking Ashby Nimble which lost ground. My Word Shirley, Kid Lavros, Goofey Express and Rocket Express collided on the first turn checking Kid Lavros, Goofey Express and Rocket Express. My Word Shirley and Rocket Express collided approaching the second turn. Goofey Express and Martini Lady collided in the back straight checking Martini Lady.
Ashby Nimble was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left chest injury, 7 day stand down period was imposed.
My Word Shirley was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to Ms. K. Heinrich, representative of My Word Shirley, regarding the greyhound performing below market expectations. Ms. Heinrich stated, that in her opinion, My Word Shirley tired over the concluding stages. Ms. Heinrich added that she felt that the greyhound would be better suited over a shorter distance and it is her belief that the trainer has intentions to run My Word Shirley over such distances in the near future.
