Steward's Report
Cosmic Ollie and Rocco's Delight were slow to begin.
Shearer's Call and La Caprice collided soon after the start. Go Maxi checked off Steel Toes at the 300m mark. Go Maxi and La Caprice collided approaching the 250m mark; Go Maxi eased and subsequently pulled up, taking no further part in the running of the event. Cosmic Ollie and Steel Toes collided at the 200m mark, checking Steel Toes. La Caprice faltered approaching the 100m mark and tailed off. Cosmic Ollie and Super Spolly approaching the winning post.
Go Maxi was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained no apparent injury, and a revet was declined. Stewards spoke to Mr Tony Cortese, the trainer of the greyhound Go Maxi, regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the 250m mark. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Go Maxi with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Cortese pleaded guilty to the charge, Go Maxi was found guilty and suspended the greyhound for three months (all tracks) and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(b), before any future nomination will be accepted.
La Caprice was vetted and revetted following event five. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a sacro-iliac injury. A 14-day stand down period was imposed. Stewards reminded trainer Mr Joe Uglietta of his responsibilities to ensure that he obtains a clearance from Stewards prior to leaving the course, pursuant to GAR42(2).
