Steward's Report
Call Me Ernie was slow to begin. Dusty Roy and Odd Boots collided soon after the start, checking Odd Boots. Dusty Boy and Kinbrae Millie collided approaching the first turn, checking Dusty Boy. Swift Trent and Black Fields collided approaching the home turn, checking Black Fields. Black Fields veered out and marred the running of Call Me Ernie in the home straight.
Black Fields was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to both monkey muscles, and a spike wound to the right foreleg, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. P. Byrne, the trainer of the greyhound Black Fields regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Black Fields with marring. Mr. Byrne pleaded guilty to the charge, Black Fields was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Warrnambool and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
