Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mrs Belinda Glen, the handler of Batik Print, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Batik Print last raced on 28 February 2018. Mrs Glen stated that the greyhound was resuming racing after a spell.
A pre-race sample was taken from Batik Print.
Osti's Raider and Batik Print were slow to begin. Lorella checked off County Carlow soon after the start. Osti's Raider checked off Lorella on the first turn. Batik Print checked off Osti's Raider on the first turn. Surfside Squids eased on the first turn. Zipping Hazel checked off Short Leash in the home straight.
Surfside Squids was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to Mr Ken Kubik, the handler of the greyhound Surfside Squids, regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the first turn. Mr Kubik declined to have Surfside Squids re-vetted. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) Stewards charged Surfside Squids with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Kubik pleaded not guilty to the charge, Surfside Squids was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Bendigo and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
