Stewards spoke to Ms Maddison Toner, the trainer of Elle Est Bonne, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Elle Est Bonne last raced on 24 January 2018.  Ms Toner stated that the greyhound was resuming racing after dislocating a front left toe.

Zipping Diva crossed to the rail soon after the start, checking Rapanui Surprise, Royal Solo, Blue Striker, Fortnight and Lance Allen.  Lance Allen, Zipping Diva and Red Queen collided on the first turn, severely checking Zipping Diva and Red Queen.  Rapanui Surprise checked off Elle Est Bonne on the first turn.  Red Queen and Elle Est Bonne collided approaching the second turn.  Royal Solo and Red Queen collided on the second turn, checking Red Queen and checking Royal Solo.  Red Queen and Rapanui Surprise collided on the second turn, checking both greyhounds.  Lance Allen clipped the heels of Blue Striker in the home straight.

Stewards reminded trainers Mr John Mcintyre (Dobre) and Mr Peter Akathliotis (Blue Hazard) of their responsibilities and advised them to follow the Starter's instructions when boxing their greyhounds in future (GAR 51).

My Name's David which performed below market expectations was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.  Trainer, Mr Allan Ferguson explained that in his opinion the greyhound may have been feeling the effects of a hard run at its most recent start at The Meadows on Wednesday  May 23.2018.

Bomber's Return  was a late scratching at 7.55 pm on Saturday, 26 May 2018, due to illness (GAR 23).  A 10 day stand down period was imposed.  Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted.
