Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Emerald Rainbow.
The start of this event was delayed due to the handler of Kouta Gold having difficulty in removing the collar from the greyhound.
The All-Clear was delayed to allow for the Stewards to review footage of behind the boxes and the start of the race. After viewing the footage and acting on their own observations and acknowledging there was a delay Stewards were satisifed that no greyhound was affected by the delay to the start and as such the All-Clear was posted. At a subsequent inquiry, Mr Stuart Smith, the handler of Kouta Gold, presented the collar and lead to Stewards and explained the clasp had become jammed which caused a delay in removing the collar. The Stewards accepted Mr Smith's explanation.
Mepunga Pride checked off Mia Brae soon after the start. Huge Allen, Kouta Gold, Mepunga Pride, Dyna Neitz and Down Mexico Way collided on the first turn checking Mepunga Pride and Dyna Neitz. Mia Brae contacted the running rail on the home turn, lost ground and tailed off as result.
Mia Brae was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained soreness to the right monkey muscle. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
