Steward's Report
The track curator advised that the track had been harrowed on Monday 14th May 2018. GRV Facilities Manager Mr Glenn Fish inspected the track on Wednesday 16 May 2018 and determined that the surface was consistent.
Stewards spoke to Mr Matt Johnson, the trainer of Smart Bella, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Smart Bella last raced at Warragul on 14 December, 2017. Mr Johnson stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after being on season.
My Barcia was slow to begin.
Forgotten Girl, Kernel Panic, Our Rocket and News Print collided soon after the start. Limit Man and Smart Bella collided soon after the start. Smart Bella checked off Limit Man approaching the 300m mark. News Print checked off Forgotten Girl at the 300m mark. Heartstring faltered at the 300m mark and tailed off as a result. Kernel Panic and News Print collided at the 200m mark. My Barcia and Limit Man collided continuously from the 200m mark to approaching the winning post. Our Rocket checked off Smart Bella approaching the winning post. Limit Man and Forgotten Girl collided approaching the winning post.
Heartstring was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the left shoulder joint and right gracilis (back) muscle. A 60-day stand down period was imposed.
