The track curator advised that the track had been harrowed on Monday 14th May 2018. GRV Facilities Manager Mr Glenn Fish inspected the track on Wednesday 16 May 2018 and determined that the surface was consistent.

Stewards spoke to Mr Matt Johnson, the trainer of Smart Bella, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Smart Bella last raced at Warragul on 14 December, 2017. Mr Johnson stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after being on season.

My Barcia was slow to begin.

Forgotten Girl, Kernel Panic, Our Rocket and News Print collided soon after the start. Limit Man and Smart Bella collided soon after the start. Smart Bella checked off Limit Man approaching the 300m mark. News Print checked off Forgotten Girl at the 300m mark. Heartstring faltered at the 300m mark and tailed off as a result. Kernel Panic and News Print collided at the 200m mark. My Barcia and Limit Man collided continuously from the 200m mark to approaching the winning post. Our Rocket checked off Smart Bella approaching the winning post. Limit Man and Forgotten Girl collided approaching the winning post.

Heartstring was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the left shoulder joint and right gracilis (back) muscle. A 60-day stand down period was imposed.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon examined Fawn Eruptor and no illness was detected. The greyhound was a late scratching at 11:09AM due to weight variation (GAR 39). A ten-day stand down period was imposed. Trainer Mr Malcolm Davis was fined the sum of $100.

Revin Kevin went up with the lids at box rise and was very slow to begin (2L).

Rail Remover and Octo Flash collided several times from soon after the start to the 250m mark. Happy Cruising checked off Cilla Gem at the 200m mark. Miss Cotton Sox checked off Rail Remover approaching the 150m mark.

Stewards spoke to Ms J Grindley, representing trainer, Mrs Margaret Grindley, regarding the length of time Double The Magic has had between races. Double The Magic last raced at Cranbourne on 31 December, 2017. Ms Grindley stated that the greyhound was spelling after a change of kennels.

Stewards spoke to Mr Graham Laidlay, representing Trainer, Mrs Pauline Laidlay, regarding the length of time Challis Annie has had between races. Challis Annie last raced at Healesville on 16 February, 2018. Mr Laidlay stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a right back muscle injury. 

Double The Magic, Dozer Gold and Tiny Octane were slow to begin.

Double The Magic and Challis Annie collided soon after the start and again at the 100m mark, checking Challis Annie. Double The Magic and Silver Banjo collided at the 50m mark. Dozer Gold and Silver Banjo collided approaching the winning post.

MEETING COMMENTS

Satisfactory Trial Results - Lilty Allen trialled over the 300m from box one, weight 28.8kg, the greyhound was placed second in a field of four. The time of the trial was 16.55, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 6L. Lilty Allen was cleared.

Satisfactory Trial Results (GAR 77A) - Stewards spoke to Ms Adelle Powell, the trainer of It's All Over, regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced. It's All Over last raced on 3 November 2017. Ms Powell stated that had been recovering from a right gracilis (back) muscle injury. Pursuant to GAR 77A, It's All Over trialled over the 300m from box three, weight 34.1kg, the greyhound was placed forst in a field of four. The time of the trial was 16.55, the greyhound won by a margin of 6L. It's All Over was cleared.

Satisfactory Trial Results - Blazing Nitro trialled over the 300m from box six, weight 35.2kg, the greyhound was placed fourth in a field of four. The time of the trial was 16.55, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 20L. Blazing Nitro was not cleared. Bazing Nirto was examined by the on course veterinarian and reported to have an eye condition, Pursuant to GAR 74 parts (1) and (2) trainer, Mr Ken Kubik was advised that the greyhound would require a veterinary certificate of clearance before being eligible to trial.
