Just Jimmy crossed to the inside soon after the start, checking Flamin' Miracle, Don's Queen (late Don's Tron) and Just Jimmy. Joanie's Johnny, New Fire Girl, Flamin' Miracle and Just Jimmy collided approaching the 250m mark, checking Joanie's Johnny, New Fire Girl and Just Jimmy, and severely checking Flamin' Miracle. Flamin' Miracle crossed to the outside approaching the winning post.

Stewards spoke with Ms K Houlahan, kennel representative for Joanie's Johnny, regarding the boxing of the greyhound. Ms Houlahan explained that she was handling the greyhound for the first time and didn't anticipate Joanie's Johnny's actions once it was placed in the box. Stewards accepted Ms Houlahan's explanation and took no further action.

Rocky Rooster was quick to begin.

Punt Road Girl, Articus and Tzar Liam collided soon after the start, checking Punt Road Girl and Articus and severely checking Tzar Liam. Wolf's Nightcall crossed to the inside and contacted the running rail approaching the 200m mark, checking Tzar Liam which also contacted the running rail. Punt Road Girl and Miss Cotton Sox collided approaching the 200m mark, checking Punt Road Girl.

Tzar Liam was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained no apparent injury.

Wolf's Nightcall was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left long head triceps (monkey) muscle and lacerations to the left hock. A 21-day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr Jeff Gorgioski, trainer of Rocky Rooster, regarding the improved performance and significant fixed odds support of the greyhound. Mr Gorgioski stated that the greyhound had trialled well at Healesville recently and he was expecting a forward showing.  Mr.Gorgioski also pointed out that the greyhound found plenty of trouble at its debut run and had benifited from two months off. Stewards noted Mr.Gorgioski explanation and took no further action.

A sample was taken from Rocky Rooster, the winner of the event.

Little Kensi, Steel Magnetic and Ryben Jack collided at the 300m mark, checking Little Kensi. Keisha's Boy and He's A Freebie collided at the 200m mark. All Revved Up and Ryben Jack collided approaching the 100m mark, checking All Revved Up. All Revved Up checked off Ryben Jack approaching the 100m mark. Hugh Made Who was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained minor lacerations to the left hind leg. No stand down period was imposed.

MEETING COMMENTS

Prior to race three, Stewards were informed that a pet dog was in an empty vehicle in the car park. Stewards located the owner of the vehicle, Mr Jeff Gorgioski, and further investigations revealed that the pet dog was left unattended briefly by his wife. Mr Gorgioski was reminded of his responsibilities in that no greyhound or any other animal, shall be permitted on the racecourse except with the permission of the Stewards (GAR30).
