Steward's Report
King Of Ring was slow to begin.
Matty Mateusz, Gaza's Rooster and Starbright Vic collided soon after the start, checking Gaza's Rooster and Starbright Vic. Gaza's Rooster, Starbright Vic, Katlin and Quick Step collided approaching the first turn. Starbright Vic checked off Katlin entering the back straight. Gaza's Rooster checked off Katlin approaching the second turn. Starbright Vic eased on the second turn and checked off Gaza's Rooster, in turn checking King Of Ring. Quick Step, Merry Magic and Kalani Klare collided on the home turn, checking Merry Magic and Kalani Klare.
Stewards spoke to Mr Victor Millington, the trainer of the greyhound Starbright Vic, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the second turn. Starbright Vic was vetted and re-vetted following event eight. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right pectoral (chest) muscle, a ten-day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Starbright Vic with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Millington pleaded guilty to the charge, Starbright Vic was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
