Stewards spoke to Mr DarylWilliams, the trainer of Kayley's Comet, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Kayley's Comet last raced on 6 October 2017. Mr Williams stated that the greyhound was resuming racing after being seasonal.
A pre-race sample was taken from Kayley's Comet.
This event was manually started.
McIvor Gordon was slow to begin. Avatar Sparkle checked off Cyrus Rumble approaching the home turn, checking Kayley's Comet and Destini Cheetah. Kayley's Comet checked off Destini Cheetah approaching the home turn, checking Trickster's Son and McIvor Gordon. Avatar Sparkle and Destini Cheetah collided on the home turn and entering the home straight, checking Avatar Sparkle.
Kayley's Comet was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right hindleg toe injury, a 60 day stand down period was imposed.
