A pre-race sample was taken from Sweet Sparkle.
Porscha's Girl was quick to begin. Zoobie was slow to begin. Seminole Wind and Dashing Impulse collided on the first turn. Dr Cadenza checked off Dashing Impulse on the first turn. Dashing Impulse checked off Dr Cadenza on the third turn. Sweet Sparkle checked off Dashing Impulse in the home straight.

Satisfactory Trial Results - Cairnlea Rosie trialled over the 515m from box eight, weight 30.7 kgs, the greyhound was placed second in a field of four. The time of the trial was 31:00, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of one length. Cairnlea Rosie was Cleared.
Satisfactory Trial Results - Surf In Vane trialled over the 515m from box one, weight 32.7 kgs, the greyhound was placed first in a field of four. The time of the trial was 31:00, the greyhound won by a margin of one length. Surf In Vane was Cleared.
Supplementary Report Traralgon 2 March 2018:
Master Rico was presented for a veterinary examination. It was reported that the greyhound sustained soreness to the right deltoid and right trapezius. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards conducted an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the greyhound Master Rico leaving the course without being vetted following event 6 at the meeting. Stewards spoke to the representative Mr. Luckie Karabitsakos regarding his reasons for leaving the course without first gaining Stewards permission. Stewards charged Mr. Karabitsakos with a breach of GAR 42 (2). Mr. Karabitsakos pleaded guilty to the offence and was fined the sum of $100.
