Steward's Report
Go Go Guru and Brindle Bay were slow to begin. Tanoan Creek checked off Zipping Paris on the first turn and collided with Lady Charlotte. Empress Lu, Omega Brittany and Brindle Bay collided on the first turn checking Empress Lu and Brindle Bay. Tanoan Creek, Two Dollar Pots and Lady Charlotte collided on the second turn checking Tanoan Creek, Two Dollar Pots and Omega Brittany. Lady Charlotte raced wide on the home turnl
A sample was taken from Zipping Paris - the winner of the event.
Stewards issued a warning to Mr Leslie Hughes, the trainer of Two Dollar Pots after he arrived late to the kennels to retrieve his greyhound for this event - GAR 46(1).
Stewards spoke to Ms Kerry Houlahan (via telephone), the handler of Empress Lu after she failed to have the greyhound vetted following the event and subsequently left the course without stewards permission. Ms Houlahan was directed to present the greyhound for a veterinary examination at Cranbourne on Wednesday 28 February 2018 prior to any further nomination being accepted.
Mr.J. Grima presented Empress Lu for a vet check at Cranbourne (28/02/18) as requested by Stewards. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right triangle injury a 21 day stand down was imposed. As a result Stewards opened and ajourned an inquiry as to why Ms. Houlahan the representitive of Empress Lu left the Sale meeting on the 25/2/18 without having the greyhound vetted.
UPDATE 6.3.18
Stewards held an inquiry at Cranbourne on 6 March 2018 and found Ms Houlahan in breach of GAR 42(2); in that she did fail to check the clearance to leave the course form and gain authorisation from the Stewards prior to removing Empress Lu from the kennels. Ms Houlahan pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined the sum of $100.
