An Out of Competition Sample was taken from Tip Toe Traction engaged in this event on 21 February 2018 pursuant to GAR 79A.

A pre-race sample was taken from Norendal and Honeysuckle Jim.

Surgical Wally was quick to begin.  Surgical Wally and Demand A Panda collided soon after the start.  Tip Toe Traction crossed in soon after the start checking Lightning Lil, Double Black and Honeysuckle Jim.  Ferno The Nando and Norendal collided soon after the start.  Demand A Panda was checked off Surgical Wally on the first turn.  Norendal and Double Black collided on the first turn checking Double Black.  Lightning Lil raced wide in the back straight.  Demand A Panda crossed to the rail on the second turn checking Surgical Wally, Tip Toe Traction and Ferno The Nando.  Surgical Wally and Tip Toe Traction collided on the second turn.  Honeysuckle Jim was checked off Norendal in the home straight. 

An Out of Competition Sample was taken from Iona Misty engaged in this event on 21 February 2018 pursuant to GAR 79A.

A pre-race sample was taken from Vladimir Rose and Nimble Lucy.

Buzz Nation was quick to begin.  Nimble Lucy and Why Not Dom were slow to begin.  Vladimir Rose and Iona Misty collided soon after the start.  Why Not Dom and Nimble Lucy collided soon after the start checking both greyhounds.  Iona Misty crossed to the rail on the first turn checking Black Shirley and Vladimir Rose and severely checking Paua Te Kuri and Buzz Nation.  Black Shirley and Vladimir Rose collided on the second turn checking Iona Misty.

Black Shirley was vetted following an incident approaching the catching pen.  It was reported that there was no injury apparent.

A pre-race sample was taken from Mahjong World.

Due to a malfunction with the 395 metre boxes and after several attempts to rectify the issue Stewards abandoned this race pursuant to GAR 57(4) and the remaining 395 metre races - 4, 9, 10, 11 & 12.

Following the abandonment of this race last night due to the issue with the 395m starting boxes, Stewards conducted a public random ballot in accordance with GAR 57(2)(b) to determine the greyhounds which shall be eligible to participate further in the series. Results of the ballot as below:

A pre-race sample upon arrival on course was taken from Bye Bye Brad.

Stewards spoke to Mrs. M. Thomas the trainer of Meeniyan Hawk regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Meeniyan Hawk last raced on 06/11/17.  Mrs. Thomas stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a spell.  Mrs. Thomas declared a new weight of 32.9kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2).  Meeniyan Hawk last raced at 34.4kg.

Due to an malfunction with the 395 metre boxes Stewards abandoned this race pursuant to GAR 57(4) and the remaining 395 metre races -  9, 10, 11 & 12.

Following the abandonment of this race last night due to the issue with the 395m starting boxes, Stewards conducted a public random ballot in accordance with GAR 57(2)(b) to determine the greyhounds which shall be eligible to participate further in the series. Results of the ballot as below:

Joyous Jill was quick to begin.  Aston Abbott and Come On Charlize collided soon after the start.  Soda King crossed out soon after the start checking Soda King, Aston Abbott and Come On Charlize and severely checking Run It Straight and Tiza Fabio.  Aston Abbott and Come On Charlize collided on the first turn.  Run It Straight raced wide from the first turn to approaching the second turn.  Joyous Jill and Midnight Marzy collided enteirng the back straight checking Midnight Marzy.  Midnight Marzy marred Joyous Jill entering the home straight checking Joyous Jill.  Joyous Jill and Midnight Marzy collided approaching the winning post.

Midnight Marzy was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a minor split webbing on the left hind foot, a 5 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr. G. Dalton the trainer of the greyhound Midnight Marzy regarding the greyhound's racing manners entering the home straight.  Acting under GAR 69(1) Stewards charged Midnight Marzy with marring.  Mr. Dalton pleaded guilty to the charge, Midnight Marzy was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Traralgon and it was directed that the greyhound perform a satisfactory trial all tracks pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

A pre-race sample was taken from Flash Apollo.

Jebreco Surprise was slow to begin.  Flash Apollo, Blue Magoo and Detroit Wally collided soon after the start.  Blue Magoo and Detroit Wally collided on the first turn causing Blue Magoo to collide with Flash Apollo.  Blue Magoo was checked off Vis Vitae on the fourth turn.  Mahi Indian tired over the concluding stages of the event.

Mahi Indian was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no injury apparent.

A sample was taken from Our Delta Rose - winner of the event and Vis Vitae - third placegetter in the event.

Wild Hunny and Slick Maggie collided soon after the start.  Lightwood Miss crossed to the rail approaching the first turn checking Slick Maggie causing Wild Hunny to check off Lightwood Miss.  Aston Grace and Rurik collided on the first turn.  Wild Hunny and Slick Maggie collided on the first turn and again approaching the second turn checking Wild Hunny.

Slick Maggie was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no injury apparent.

Why Not Ginger was quick to begin.  Labuan Starfish and Mumma's Meatloaf collided soon after the start.  Fabregal, Rebecca Bale and Joe's Dolly collided approaching the first turn.  Fabregal crossed to the rail on the first turn checking Joe's Dolly, Fabregal collided with Rebecca Bale.  Rebecca Bale and Fabregal collided approaching the second turn checking Fabregal.  Suffragette faltered approaching the second turn and subsequently tailed off.  Zero Whispers was checked off Fabreagal on the second turn, Zero Whispers lost ground as a result.  Labuan Starfish and Mumma's Meatloaf collided entering the home straight.

Zero Whispers was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured left monkey muscle, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Fabregal was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured left monkey muscle, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Suffragette was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured right back muscle, a 28 day stand down period was imposed.
