Steward's Report
Glenda Kingy, Cosmic Chieftain, Zipping Captain and Riviera Cruz were quick to begin. Cosmic Chieftain and Zipping Captain collided soon after the start and again on the first turn. Cosmic Chieftain galloped on the heels of Riviera Cruz on the first turn. Princess Pout checked off Cosmic Chieftain on the first turn. Dyna Carnie and Dyna Evelyn collided on the first turn. Cosmic Chieftain and Princess Pout collided heavily on the first turn. Dyna Carnie checked off Princess Pout on the first turn and collided with Dyna Evelyn. Cosmic Chieftain checked off Princess Pout on the second turn. Dyna Carnie checked off Dyna Evelyn on the second turn. Cosmic Chieftain faltered on the third turn and lost ground over the concluding stages.
Cosmic Chieftain was vetted following the event and after being re-vetted following event 7, it was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to both its left and right sartorius muscles. A 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards then spoke to trainer Mr. D. Fergusson regarding the performance of Cosmic Chieftan who faltered on the third turn and gave ground for the remainder of the race. After assessing the veterinary report, (upon re-vetting) no action other than requiring Mr Fergusson to advise the Stewards of any other injury or condition that becomes apparent in the coming days, under the provisions of GAR 75.
