Steward's Report
How Manny Bazza and Just Won Lotto were slow to begin. Hurricane Billie and Belleperi Miss collided soon after the start. Ima Rig and Unique Spirit collided approaching the first turn checking How Manny Bazza. Hurricane Billie, Belleperi Miss and Stealthy Flight collided on the first turn checking Hurricane Billie, Unique Spirit, Just Won Lotto and Ima Rig and severely checking Stealthy Flight. Sweet Ambush eased on the first turn. Ima Rig and Unique Spirit collided approaching the home turn. Hurricane Billie and Just Won Lotto collided approaching the home turn checking How Manny Bazza. Sweet Ambush raced wide on the home turn. Ima Rig was checked off Unique Spirit on the home turn. Hurricane Billie and Just Won Lotto collided entering the home straight. Ima Rig and Stealthy Flight collided entering the home straight and again approaching the winning post.
Unique Spirit was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a spike wound between the toes on the left front foot. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Sweet Ambush was vetted following the event and after being re-vetted following event 6, it was reported that there was no injury apparent.
Stewards spoke to Mr. Craig Davis the trainer (via phone) and Mr. G. Maxwell the representative of the greyhound Sweet Ambush regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the first turn. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) Stewards charged Sweet Ambush with failing to pursue the lure with due commtment. Mr. Davis pleaded not guilty to the charge, Sweet Ambush was found guilty and suspended the greyhound for 3 months all tracks and it was directed that the greyhound perform a satisfactory trial all tracks pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(b) before any future nomination will be accepted.
A sample was taken from Belleperi Miss - winner of the event.
Stewards issued a warning to Mr. Glenn Maxwell after he left the course without Steward's permission (GAR 42.2). In assessing an appropriate penalty Stewards took into account that Mr Maxwell has had no previous history relating to this matter.
