Steward's Report
Nellie Shan and Shimmy Dat Ray collided soon after the start, checking Nellie Shan. Nellie Shan, Tiwala Twist, Shimmy Dat Ray and Punt Road Girl collided on the first turn. Shimmy Dat Ray and Punt Road Girl collided approaching the home turn, causing both greyhounds to race wide. Punt Road Girl made contact with, turned in toward and marred the running of Shimmy Dat Ray entering the home straight.
Punt Road Girl was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained no apparent injury.
Stewards spoke to Mr William Donlon, the kennel representative for the greyhound Punt Road Girl, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners entering the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Punt Road Girl with marring. Mr Donlon pleaded guilty to the charge; Punt Road Girl was found guilty and suspended the greyhound for three months (all tracks) and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(b), before any future nomination will be accepted.
Shimmy Dat Ray was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an abrasion to the right hock. A three-day stand down period was imposed.
A sample was taken from Ice Cold Yug, the winner of the event.
