Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was unable to be obtained from Blackjack Cruise; a post-race sample was subsequently collected from the greyhound which was dead heated for second place in the event.
Dyna Owen, Prince Mikado and Kid Ringo collided soon after the start. Kid Ringo checked off Brazilian Brae approaching the first turn. Xava Allen and Limburg Gunna collided approaching the first turn. Brazilian Brae and Kid Ringo collided approaching the second turn. Brazilian Brae, Kid Ringo and Blackjack Cruise collided in the back straight. Blackjack Cruise checked off Kid Ringo on the third turn. Brazilian Brae, Kid Ringo, Xava Allen and Limburg Gunna collided approaching the home turn. Kid Ringo eased on the home turn. Xava Allen eased on the home turn. Blackjack Cruise marred Xava Allen on the home turn.
Blackjack Cruise was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right gracilis (back) and both pectoral (chest) muscles. A ten-day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Ms Ann Panetta, the trainer of the greyhound Blackjack Cruise, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the home turn. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Blackjack Cruise with marring. Ms Panetta pleaded guilty to the charge, Blackjack Cruise was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at The Meadows and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Stewards spoke to Mr Donald Jarvis, the trainer of the greyhound Kid Ringo, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the home turn. Kid Ringo was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the left pectoral (chest) muscle and a spike wound to the right wrist, a seven-day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Kid Ringo with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Jarvis pleaded guilty to the charge, Kid Ringo was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
Stewards spoke to Mr Jason Levoso, the kennel representative for the greyhound Xava Allen, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the home turn. Xava Allen was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left shoulder, a five-day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Xava Allen with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Levoso pleaded guilty to the charge, Xava Allen was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
