A pre-race sample was taken from Too The Nail.
Night King was slow to begin.
Petra Allen and Alpha Themis collided approaching the first turn. Night King and Paxton Bale collided approaching the first turn, causing Paxton Bale to fall. Xava Allen and Petra Allen collided on the first turn. Xava Allen and Alpha Themis collided approaching the second turn, and again on the second turn, severely checking Xava Allen and Petra Allen. Night King marred Dyna Kushida in the home straight.
Paxton Bale was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to both pectoral (chest) muscles, the left gracilis (back) muscle, lacerations to the lip, and abrasions to the left hock. A ten-day stand down period was imposed.
Night King was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a laceration to the left hock. A three-day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr Dennis Trewin, the kennel representative the greyhound Night King, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Night King with marring. Mr Trewin pleaded guilty to the charge, Night King was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at The Meadows and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
