Supplementary Report: Traralgon 15 January 2018.

GRV Stewards inquired into the late scratching of Tiggerlong Ray from Race 8 at Traralgon on 15 January 2018. Tiggerlong Ray was withdrawn by Trainer Ms Samantha Ferguson at 8.40am on the morning of the race, due to illness. After taking evidence from Ms Fergusson, GRV Stewards issued a charge under GAR 23 (1) (a) in that Ms Ferguson failed to examine Tiggerlong Ray prior to the appointed scratching time of 8.30am, on the day of the race, to ensure the greyhound was free of injury, illness or was on-season. Ms Ferguson pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $200. When determining penalty, stewards took into consideration Ms Fergusons good record, guilty plea, her personnel antecedence and the forthright manner in which she conducted herself before the Stewards. Against these factors, stewards considered the need for general deterrence and that a reserve was therefore denied a start in the race. Save for Ms Fergusson’s mitigating factors, the penalty for this offence would be nominally higher.

This meeting was declared heat affected. At the start of kennelling the ambient outside temperature was 25.8 degrees. The kennel temperature was 22.3 degrees. At close of kennels the outside temperature was 21.1 degrees.

Hail Strom and No More Sisco collided approaching the home turn. Nod Ya Head and No More Sisco collided approaching the home turn. Dyna Hendry and Nod Ya Head collided heavily on the home turn, checking both greyhounds. Dyna Hendry, Dyna Diedre and Nod Ya Head collided heavily on the home turn, checking all three greyhounds. Dyna Hendry, One Smarty, Dyna Diedre, Nod Ya Head and No More Sisco raced wide on the home turn.

Gomez Sanchez was quick to begin. Bud Husky was slow to begin. 

Spa Squirtle and Bud Husky raced wide on the home turn. Bolton Blue and Pop The Trunk collided approaching the winning post. Spa Squirtle faded in the home straight. 

Spa Squirtle was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Loroupe checked off Stir Fry Shrimp on the first turn, causing Loroupe to lose ground. Stir Fry Shrimp checked off Rancette on the first turn. Spa Vulpix checked off Stir Fry Shrimp on the first turn, causing Spa Vulpix to lose ground. Loroupe, Not Loitering, Stir Fry Shrimp and Flying Rose raced wide on the home trun.

Charlie Cockatoo and Ringcraft collided on the first turn. Barooga Brett checked off Yuko approaching the home turn. Barooga Brett and Reid Star collided approaching the home turn. Charlie Cockatoo checked off Ringcraft approaching the home turn. Barooga Brett and Born Jamie collided on the home turn. Barooga Brett checked off Yuko on the home turn. Yuko checked off Mepunga Bella, shifted out and collided heavily with Reid Star on the home turn.

Sisco Ride, Dashing Dream and Quavo collided soon after the start. Quavo and Lektra Kaycee collided soon after the start. Be Like Bill and Loch Eddie collided soon after the start. Sisco Ride and Dyna Lenae collided several times on the first turn and again approaching the home turn. Quavo checked off Sisco Ride approaching the home turn.

The start of this event was slightly delayed to hold for the completion of a South Australian harness race. 

Lost Love and Paua To Load were quick to begin. Mahlo Blackhawk, Hyperactive and Coco Spectre were slow to begin. 

Hyperactive and Coco Spectre collided soon after the start. Roaming Rampage, Mahlo Blackhawk, Tiggerlong Boom and Coco Spectre collided on the first turn. Lektra Stomp checked off Paua To Load on the first turn. Coco Spectre and Lektra Stomp raced tightly and collided several times approaching the home turn.

Liam was quick to begin. 

Tanoan Creek and Lainey's Fortune collided soon after the start. Cruisy's Lil galloped on Liam on the first turn, checking both greyhounds. Liam and Tanoan Creek collided approaching the home turn; Liam faltered and lost ground as a result. Tarree's Ruslie faltered on the home turn. Liam faded in the home straight. 

Liam was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right gracillis muscle. A 21 day stand down period was imposed.

Property Power and Elite Ollie were quick to begin. Malick and Ball Of Steel were slow to begin.

Ima Rebel and Kiowa Kaema collided soon after the start. Maximum Jan and Elite Ollie collided on the first turn. Blackpool Doc checked off Elite Ollie on the first turn. Kiowa Kaema and Malick collided on the first turn. Ima Rebel checked off Kiowa Kaema on the first turn. Ball Off Steel checked off Maximum Jan approaching the home turn. Blackpool Doc, Malick and Ball Of Steel collided on the home turn. Ima Rebel shifted out and raced wide on the home turn.

Showtime Mystery shifted out and raced ungenerously in the home straight. 

Showtime Mystery was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured right monkey muscle. A 7 day stand down period was imposed. 

Stewards issued a warning to Ms Kristine Collyer, the trainer of Showtime Mystery regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. 

The All Clear was delayed to enable stewards to review the race footage after a seagull was observed to take flight, in front of the field, in the home straight. Stewards were satisfied that no greyhound had been affected by such incident and the all clear was subsequently given.
