Miss Peanut and Forever Cousins were slow to begin.
Forever Cousins and Arlecchino collided approaching the first turn, checking Arlecchino. Bluehawk Robert, Miss Peanut and Fruit Frames collided approaching the first turn, checking Miss Peanut. Medika, Bluehawk Robert and Fruit Frames collided on the first turn, checking Bluehawk Robert, Arlecchino and Miss Peanut. Forever Cousins raced wide on the home turn.

Stewards spoke to Mr S Kruckel, trainer of Blue Fortitude, regarding the greyhound's performance in this event. Mr Kruckel stated to Stewards that Blue Fortitude had began well today and was able to lead comfortably without receiving any interference. Mr Kruckel also stated that Blue Fortitude had received interference in his recent starts and was confident that with a clear run today, Blue Fortitude would be very competitive. Stewards noted Mr Kruckels explanation and directed that a post-race sample be taken from the greyhound.
