Steward's Report
Dyna Carnie was a late scratching at 3:03pm due to an injury (GAR 23). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted.
An Out of Competition Sample was taken from Poke The Bear engaged in this event on 10 January 2018, pursuant to GAR 79A.
When the greyhounds were retrieved from the kennels for this event, the temperature in the kennels was 18.5 degrees and the outside temperature was 28.7 degrees.
A pre-race sample was taken from Poke the Bear.
Shady Tex was quick to begin. Thirty Talks was slow to begin.
Poke The Bear and Shady Tex collided on the first turn. Shady Tex and Yarraman Ace collided on the first turn. Alpha Themis and Thirty Talks collided on the first turn. Shady Tex and Yarraman Ace collided on the second turn. Shady Tex checked off Yarraman Ace on the second turn. Alpha Themis checked off Shady Tex on the second turn. Thirty Talks faltered entering the back straight tailed off, pulled up and failed to finish near the home turn. Poke The Bear and Tuggeragh collided on the third turn.
Thirty Talks was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right hock injury, a 90 day stand down period was imposed.
The track surface was inspected where Thirty Talks faltered approaching the 715mtrs starting boxes. The track was deemed safe and fit for racing.
