Steward's Report
This meeting was declared heat affected. At the start of kennelling the ambient outside temperature was 34.0 degrees. The kennel temperature was 18.0 degrees.
When the greyhounds were retrieved from the kennels for this event, the temperature in the kennels was 19.0 degrees and the outside temperature was 33.0 degrees.
The vehicles used by participants for the transportation of greyhounds to todays race meeting were checked by GRV Stewards for compliance with the GRV Transport Policy for Hot Weather. All vehicles and trailers that were used for such purpose, were compliant.
A pre-race sample was taken from Varuchi Pass.
Shady Buck was quick to begin.
Bolton Blue and Menzali collided soon after the start causing Menzali to stumble and lose ground. Menzali galloped on Dyna Xervo and collided with Varuchi Pass soon after the start. Nicky Neo and Dyna Xervo collided soon after the start. Bolton Blue and Dyna Xervo collided on the first turn. Varuchi Pass and Xava Allen collided on the first turn. Bolton Blue checked off Xava Allen and collided with Dyna Xervo on the first turn. Nicky Neo and Varuchi Pass collided on the second turn. Menzali checked off Nicky Neo in the back straight checking Menzali. Menzali checked off Xava Allen and collided with Bolton Blue on the third turn. Varuchi Pass checked off Nicky Neo on the third turn. Menzali galloped on Varuchi Pass approaching the home turn checking Varuchi Pass which stumbled and lost ground. Dyna Xervo and Xava Allen collided approaching the home turn.
Traner Mr Rob Neocleous was questioned as to his greyhound trailer not being air-conditioned. Mr Neocleous confirmed that his two greyhounds were both transported in his air-conditioned vehicle (car) and that he was fully aware of his obligations to this effect. After personally examining the said vehicle, the Stewards were satisfied that the GRV Transport Policy was adhered to and as such, no further action was taken or required.
