Steward's Report
Mr Michael Niele, trainer of Ottis Bale, declared a new weight of 31.6kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Ottis Bale last raced at 30.2kg.
Mr Ian Robinson, trainer of Cosmic George, declared a new weight of 30.7kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Cosmic George last raced at 29.5kg.
Ottis Bale and Cosmic Tool were quick to begin. Krazy Jane and Mr. Candyman were slow to begin.
Ottis Bale, Cosmic George, Cosmic Tool and Hayley Jane collided heavily on the first turn, causing Cosmic Tool and Hayley Jane to fall. Krazy Jane and Mr. Candyman collided heavily on the first turn, causing Krazy Jane to fall and severely checking Mr. Candyman. Ottis Bale hesitated on the first turn. Platinum Osti and Miss Premier raced tightly and collided in the home straight.
Ottis Bale was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound had no apparent injury. After speaking with Trainer Mr M Neile and in assessing this incident in totality, it was apparent to Stewards that Ottis Bale hesitated simultaneously to the incident behind. The Stewards felt that this incident contributed directly to the actions of Ottis Bale at this stage of the race. In view of this, a charge of failing to chase was not preferred by Stewards and Ottis Bale was placed on a Satisfactory Trial, pursuant to GAR 71.
Cosmic Tool was vetted following the race. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a fractured right humorous and was humanely euthanised.
Hayley Jane was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a carpal sprain of the right wrist and an injury to the left long head triceps (monkey) muscle. A 14-day stand down period was imposed.
Krazy Jane was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right long head triceps (monkey) muscle. A ten-day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards inspected the track immediately after the incidents and falls that occurred through the first turn and deemed the surface safe and suitable for racing.
