Steward's Report
Takaho Tiger was a late scratching at 3.29pm due to non arrival (GAR 31). A 28 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer Mrs. M. Brown was fined the sum of $100.
A sample was unable to be obtained from Shining Opal earlier today, a pre-race sample was subsequently taken.
Shining Opal and Nitro Swagger collided soon after the start. Bera Na Liva was checked off Nitro Swagger soon after the start. Bera Na Liva and Siver Lightning collided approaching the home turn severely checking Siver Lightning. Shining Opal raced wide in the home straight. It's My Secret eased and failed to pursue the lure approaching the winning post.
Siver Lightning was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no injury apparent.
Stewards spoke to Mr. E. Dowsey the trainer of It's My Secret regarding the greyhound's racing manners approaching the winning post. It's My Secret was vetted following the event and after being re-vetted following event 9, it was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured left sesamoid and left elbow, a 10 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1) the Stewards charged It's My Secret with failing to pursue the lure with due committment by reason of injury. Mr. Dowsey pleaded guilty to the charge, It's My Secret was found guilty and Stewards directed that the greyhound perform a satisfactory trial all tracks pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
