Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr Joseph Clarke, the trainer of Champagne Chaser, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Champagne Chaser last raced on 6 August 2017 and is returning after a seasonal spell.
A pre-race sample was taken from Bad Apple.
Treasure Keeper and Captain Marvel were slow to begin.
Nitro Nicole crossed to the inside soon after the start, checking Champagne Chaser, Just Blacky and Captain Marvel. Captain Marvel checked off Champagne Chaser at the 300m mark. Bad Apple crossed in at the 250m mark and collided with Far Sighted several times to the 200m mark, checking both greyhounds. Bad Apple checked off Stormy Seas at the 100m mark.
Far Sighted was vetted and revetted following event eleven. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right gastrocnemius (calf) muscle. A ten-day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards issued a warning to Mr Colin Brennan, the owner of Far Sighted, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners at the 250m mark.
Treasure Keeper was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a carpal sprain of the right wrist. A ten-day stand down period was imposed.
