Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from He's Clever upon arrival at the course, prior to kennelling.
Pre-race samples were taken from Paddy's Cripp and On The Rebound.
Tarsier, Drogma and He's Clever were slow to begin.
Zulu Zoe crossed to the rail soon after the start, checking On The Rebound, Terrace and Wicked Hillary. Terrace and On The Rebound collided approaching the first turn. Terrace checked off On The Rebound on the first turn. Drogma checked off He's Clever on the first turn. Tarsier and Zulu Zoe collided on the first, checking Zulu Zoe. Drogma and On The Rebound collided approaching the home turn. Tarsier and Paddy's Cripp collided several times from entering the home straight until approaching the winning post. Wicked Hillary eased in the home straight and collided with Tarsier and Paddy's Cripp.
Stewards spoke to Mr Kenneth McCann regarding the direction that the greyhound Zulu Zoe be boxed first. Acting under GAR 52(2), Stewards directed that this box first be removed.
Stewards spoke to Ms Melanie Lithgow, the trainer of the greyhound Wicked Hillary, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. Wicked Hillary was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left gastrocnemius (calf) muscle; a ten-day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Wicked Hillary with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Ms Lithgow pleaded guilty to the charge, Wicked Hillary was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
A sample was taken from Zulu Zoe, the winner of the event.
