Steward's Report
Pop's A Wizard and Izzy Kymtony were slow to begin. Starbright Madie and Secret Business collided soon after the start checking Starbright Madie. Izzy Kymtony checked off Pop's A Wizard approaching the first turn. Pop's A Wizard and Secret Business collided several times approaching the home turn checking both greyhounds. Starbright Madie eased approaching the home turn and collided with Secret Business. Starbright Madie raced wide and collided with Secret Business several times to the home turn severely checking both greyhounds. Both greyhounds finished tailed off. Way Things Are and Shazza's Gift collided in the home straight.
Starbright Maddie was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained mild muscle soreness in the left triangle. A stand down period of 3 days was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. G. Hammerstein, the trainer of the greyhound Starbright Madie regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the home turn. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Starbright Madie with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Hammerstein pleaded guilty to the charge, Starbright Madie was found guilty and suspended the greyhound for 3 months (all tracks) and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(b), before any future nomination will be accepted.
Secret Business was vetted following the event and the report was "no apparent injury".
