Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr. D. Brennan, the trainer of Weeping Lass regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Weeping Lass last raced on 24th February 2016. Mr. Brennan stated that the greyhound had been on season.
A pre-race sample was taken from Magic Success upon arrival at the course, prior to kennelling.
Pulciano was a late scratching at 9:23pm after the greyhound was found deceased in its kennel by trainer, Mr. S. Bruce when he went to retrieve the greyhound for this event. The ontrack veterinary surgeon Dr. D. Colson examined the greyhound and was of the opinion that the greyhound may have suffered a heart attack, with no visible signs of distress. Stewards directed that samples be taken from the greyhound and a full autopsy be conducted in accordance with GAR78. Samples were taken from the greyhound.
Gallo Allen and Lil Arthur were slow to begin. Magic Success, Add 'Em Up and Buckle Up Nikki collided approaching the first turn, checking Add 'Em Up and Buckle Up Nikki. Buckle Up Nikki and Lil Arthur collided on the first turn. Buckle Up Nikki faltered on the first turn and tailed off as a result. Lil Arthur raced wide entering the home straight.
Buckle Up Nikki was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the left monkey muscle and right back muscle, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.
