A pre-race sample was taken from Become The Fuse.
Surfonic Gold crossed to the outside soon after the start checking Dr. Eleonora, Dr. Walter and Rack Tap Rack. Rack Tap Rack checked off Dr. Walter approaching the first turn. Dr. Eleonora and Rack Tap Rack collided on the first turn. Become The Fuse and Dr. Walter collided on the first turn. Dr. Eleonora checked off Dr. Walter approaching the third turn. Surfonic Gold eased approaching the winning post and collided with Bag Of Magic.
Stewards spoke to Mrs. J. McMahon, the representative of the greyhound Surfonic Gold regarding the greyhound's racing manners approaching the winning post. Surfonic Gold was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its right monkey muscle. A 14 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the Stewards charged Surfonic Gold with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mrs. McMahon pleaded guilty to the charge. Surfonic Gold was found guilty and Stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
