Steward's Report

Stewards spoke to P Presutto, the trainer of Vis Vitae regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.   Vis Vitae last raced on 5 February 2017. P Presutto stated that the greyhound was returning from a fractured right radius.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon examined Hollywood Pearl and no illness was detected. The greyhound was a late scratching at 6.44pm due to weight variation (GAR 39). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer C Hughes was fined the sum of $100.

Jacey Allen was slow to begin.  Ben's Talon and Vis Vitae collided soon after the start, checking Ben's Talon which collided with Jacey Allen.  Marko Bale and Vis Vitae collided approaching the first turn.  Marko Bale and Hearts To Heart collided approaching the home turn.  Marko Bale and Jacey Allen collided on the home turn and again entering the home straight.  Verta Bale marred Lockrod in the home straight.  Verta Bale and Lockrod collided approaching the winning post.

A sample was taken from Lockrod - the winner of the event.

Verta Bale was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Stewards spoke to L Courts, the representative of the greyhound Verta Bale regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight.  Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Verta Bale with marring. L Courts pleaded guilty to the charge, Verta Bale was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Geelong and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted
