Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr Patrick Bull, the trainer of Carlanna Casey, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Carlanna Casey last raced at Sandown Park on 26 March, 2017 and is returning to racing after recovering from injuries to the left and right shoulders.
A pre-race sample was taken from Monkey Year.
Rusty Sidebottom, Bubsy John and Vane Power collided soon after the start, checking Bubsy John. Victo Bale and Monkey Year collided at the 300m mark. Rusty Sidebottom and Vane Power collided several times between the 300m mark and 150m mark, checking Rusty Sidebottom. Bubsy John and Monkey Year collided approaching the winning post. Liberty Diamond veered out approaching the winning post, marring the running of Carlanna Casey.
Diamond Liberty was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained no apparent injury.
Steward’s spoke to Mr Trevor Gottsche, trainer of Bubsy John, in that he made contact with the rear of the boxes after boxing the greyhound. GAR 51 (10)(c). After taking evidence from Mr Gottshce, stewards applied a fine of $100.
Stewards spoke to Ms Tammy Kennedy-Harris, the representative of the greyhound Liberty Diamond, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Liberty Diamond with marring. Ms Kennedy-Harris pleaded guilty to the charge, Liberty Diamond was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Healesville and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
