Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr. M. Attard, the trainer of Carmalina regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Carmalina last raced on 31st January 2017. Mr. Attard stated that the greyhound was returning from a left monkey muscle injury.
This race was delayed by approximately 3.5 minutes to hold for a Victorian harness event.
A pre-race sample was taken from Magic Buddie.
Man Down and Horey's Girl were slow to begin. Carmalina and Crymelon Pink collided approaching the first turn severely checking Crymelon Pink. Julaine and Carmalina collided approaching the home turn checking Julaine. Carmalina checked off Man Down on the home turn and raced wide, colliding with Julaine and taking Julaine wide. Bobby Tron was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a laceration to the left hind paw. A stand down period of 14 days was imposed.
A sample was taken from Bobby Tron, 2nd placegetter.
Stewards spoke to Mr. S. Gibilisco, trainer of Bobby Tron regarding the betting activity surrounding the greyhound prior to the start of this event. Mr. Gibilisco stated that he could offer no explanation with regards to the betting on Bobby Tron today. Mr. Gibilisco added that he had a minimal outlay on the greyhound, which is consistent with his normal betting activity. Stewards noted his comments and took no further action.
