Mississippi Lane and Spring Slater were slow to begin. Blackheart Bruce, Scrappy Doo and Senor Sensation collided soon after the start checking Scrappy Doo. Mississippi Lane faltered approaching the first turn and took no further competitive part in the event. Spring Slater, Blackheart Bruce and Senor Sensation collided approaching the first turn.
