Oscar Keeping was slow to begin. Lektra Elite stumbled soon after the start and lost ground as a result. Sonic Pirate and Wise Chief collided soon after the start. Sonic Pirate crossed to the outside approaching the first turn checking Wise Chief, Dyna Hula and Great Spartacus. Sonic Pirate, Oscar Keeping and Great Spartacus collided on the first turn. Wise Chief and Dyna Hula collided on the first turn severely checking Lektra Elite and Dyna Hula. Boo Icy You and Oscar Keeping collided on the second turn. Sonic Pirate and Boo Icy You collided on the third turn. Dyna Hula marred the running of Wise Chief approaching the winning post.
Lektra Elite was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Stewards spoke to Mr. G. Dailly, the representative of the greyhound Dyna Hula. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Dyna Hula with marring and suspended the greyhound for 28 days at Sandown Park and directed that the greyhound must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
