Bullbar Gin, Izzy Kate and Fancy Skittles were slow to begin.
Grand Blue checked off Belle's Diamond soon after the start. Bullbar Gin checked off Izzy Kate soon after the start and lost considerable ground as a result. Erica Power checked off Inazzma on the first turn. Grand Blue and Izzy Kate collided on the first turn checking Grand Blue. Erica Power raced wide on the home turn and again in the home straight. Grand Blue eased in the home straight and collided with Belle's Diamond.
Bullbar Gin was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left thigh. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. J. Abela, the handler of the greyhound Grand Blue. Grand Blue was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right shoulder, a 10 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(5), the stewards charged Grand Blue with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury) and directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(6), before any nomination will be accepted.
