Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr John Caulfield, the trainer of Just Red regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Just Red last raced on 9 November 2016. Mr Caulfield stated that the greyhound had been recovering from an injury to the right shoulder.
A pre-race sample was taken from Fast Freddie.
Sleek Nitro was slow to begin.
Just Red and Sleek Nitro collided soon after the start, checking Just Red. Glaucus, Ripsaw Ronny and Duporth Avenue collided approaching the first turn, severely checking Ripsaw Ronny which stumbled as a result. Ripsaw Ronny and Sleek Nitro collided on the first turn. Fast Freddie crossed to the outside on the home turn. Smoke Or Fire and Wicked Hillary collided several times in the home straight. Fast Freddie crossed to the inside approaching the winning post, checking Smoke Or Fire and Wicked Hillary.
Just Red was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained no apparent injury. No stand down period was imposed.
