Spring Ripper was a late scratching at 4.17pm on 15 April due to injury (GAR 23).  A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted. 

J Brown, trainer of Vane Power declared a new weight of 34.1kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Vane Power last raced at 35.3kgs.

Galloping Benny was slow to begin.  Gatwick and Kouta Mayhem collided soon after the start, checking Kouta Mayhem.  Kouta Gold and Kouta Mayhem collided approaching the second turn, severely checking Kouta Gold, Kouta Mayhem, Respondent and Alpha Themis, causing Kouta Mayhem and Alpha Themis to fall and Respondent to race wide.  Galloping Benny and Kouta Gold collided on the third turn, checking Kouta Gold. Jakey Rocket faltered on home turn and pulled up.

Jakey Rocket was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a fractured right tibia, and was humanely euthanased.

Kouta Mayhem was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured left shoulder and abrasions and bruising to the left and right foreleg, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Alpha Themis was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured left triangle muscle and abrasions to the left hind leg, a 5 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards inspected the track on the home turn after Jakey Rocket sustained an injury and found the track to be safe.

Blue Reef was slow to begin.  Crump's Princess and Royal Cosmic collided soon after the start.  Dr. Poppel and Crump's Princess collided soon after the start.  Pappa Gallo and Back Slapper collided on the first turn, checking Back Slapper.

Stewards spoke to G Brown, the trainer of Rapanui Reveller regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Rapanui Reveller last raced on 20 December 2016. G Brown stated that the greyhound was returning from being spelled.

El Mirage was quick to begin.  Red Hot Fox, Evanta Nemo and Magic Innings were slow to begin.  Evanta Nemo and Red Hot Fox collided soon after the start.  Rapanui Reveller and You Bug Me collided approaching the first turn.  Brousko and Red Hot Fox collided on the second turn, checking Brousko.  Brousko and Magic Innings collided on the third turn.  Evanta Nemp and Red Hot Fox collided on the home turn.

Weekend In Paris, Spring Bobbi and Scorching Fella were quick to begin.  Weekend In Paris and Dr. Cadenza collided on the first turn.  Weekend In Paris and Dr. Cadenza collided in the back straight.  Scorching Fella raced wide in the back straight and in the home straight.  Dr. Eleonora raced wide in the home straight.

The judges inadvertedly semaphored the incorrect placings of 4 - 3 - 8 - 2.  This was corrected to 4 - 3 - 8 - 6 before the all clear was given.

Dr. Toretto was quick to begin.  Interlaken and Lemon Paw were slow to begin.  Lektra Rival and Mighty Bree collided approaching the first turn. Mighty Bree and Lemon Paw collided on the first turn.  Interlaken galloped on the heels of Dr. Toretto on the third turn, checking both greyhounds.  Dr. Toretto and Royal Knocka collided entering the home straight.  Dr. Toretto and Jett Zafonic collided approaching the winning post.
